Airbnb now sees a quarter of all traffic coming from mobile – Infographic

17 October 2012

Mobile now accounts for 26 percent of all traffic to Airbnb, the community-powered hotel alternative that lets people list and book everything from couches to castles.

The four-year-old San Francisco-based company, which maintains applications for iPhone, Android, and the mobile web, has found its audience turning to these apps for browsing, booking, and even daydreaming (via the new Wish Lists feature).

Apple device owners seem especially taken with Airbnb, as more than half of the online bed-and-breakfast’s mobile traffic originates from iPhones and iPads.

Members’ migration to mobile is a boon to the overall experience, the company said, because the on-the-go applications facilitate expeditious communication between would-be guests and hosts. Mobile users send a message every seven seconds, and messages receive responses three times faster on mobile than they do on the web.
