Palmers Lodge Hostels (STAY WYSE Member) Crowned Customer Champion at British Travel Awards
Hundreds of representatives from organisations operating in the youth travel and hospitality industry gathered at Westfield Stratford last week to honour the winners in the 2012 British Youth Travel Awards. Palmers Lodge boutique hostels were crowned winners of the Customer Service Award in recognition of their commitment to excelling in customer care.
Palmers Lodge (STAY WYSE Member) is a small chain of boutique hostels that has successfully managed to blend the traditional backpacker’s hostel with the highest standards set by today’s younger travellers. The company has two luxury hostels set in impressive London buildings and offers standard services such as 24hr CCTV, free wifi and free parking, all for prices that start from just £20 per night.
All Palmers Lodge staff are trained in the nine basic principles of hospitality including the key belief that “if you take care of your customers they in turn will take care of you”. Palmers’ award entry application explained how the company has found that having customer-focused staff starts a chain reaction of happy customers, positive recommendations and a growing profit line; turnover has increased by 16.6% year on this year to date.
Nate Bucjolz of Google UK, who was part of the judging panel said “The quality of applicant was impressive. Large and small, there are travel companies doing some really great and innovative things in the UK.”
Titus Wilson, Operational Manager for Palmers Lodge was thrilled at the win and said, “we are delighted to be acknowledged with this award, we would like to thank the entire Palmers team for their efforts in this Olympic year.” The business also received the Bronze award in the Best Accommodation category.
