Berlin, 5th May 2015 – The A&O Amsterdam Zuidoost was officially opened on 1st May 2015. The building is the first location of the A&O chain in the Netherlands and offers the usual smart combination of hotel and hostel.

A&O logoLocated directly at the station Bijlmer Arena, 349 modern one-, two-, four- and six- bed rooms have been created in a former office building. In total 1,404 beds in the 2-star hotel category and the 4-star hostel category are available now for guests. Most of the rooms are dorm-type. The main target groups are school groups, field trips, clubs, backpackers, and families. During the whole construction period of only nine months, the chain has invested EUR 11.7 million in the construction.
The investment costs for furniture and equipment amounted to another EUR 2.2 million.“Amsterdam as a modern and varied city matches perfectly to our target group and is the ideal location for our first A&O in the Netherlands. I’m very happy about the opening here and I’m convinced that we will have great success with our product, our prices, and our services. Our price – performance ratio in Amsterdam will fear no comparison.” says Oliver Winter, General Manager of A&O. The building was already sold out on opening day to 100 % capacity.
“Next year we are expecting 100,000 visitors and 300,000 overnight stays,” Winter continued. The new destination is an interesting one, especially for groups and single travellers. It is the perfect starting point for leisure activities in Amsterdam. Locally, the nearby Heineken Music Hall, the Ajax Arena and the Endemol studios lure visitors to their doors.
