Google moves in on the OTA space, while Booking.com encroaches on Airbnb
The competition for booking accommodation on the internet just got hotter, with the arrival of Google into a quasi-OTA space and Booking.com making inroads into the territory of Airbnb with ‘homestays’.
Not dissimilar to what they’ve done with the airline searches, Google appear to be expanding into the accommodation booking market with consumers now being able to book rooms straight off the Google search page.

Meanwhile, Booking.com appear to have expanded their accommodation offering with a new filter for ‘homestay’ property types.
Tnooz have reported that the majority of the properties falling under the new ‘homestay’ filter are not listed on Villas.com, the self-catering sibling site connected with the Booking.com. Read more at Tnooz.
