A&O hotel group expands in Copenhagen
In summer 2017 A&O HOTELS and HOSTELS open a new location in Tagensvej 135-137 in Nørrebro’s student quarter.
“Next year will be exciting because A&O proceeds with its internationalization. Copenhagen is a top destination in Europe and with AP Pension we have found a reliable, competent landlord,” says Oliver Winter, General Manager of A&O HOTELS and HOSTELS. “Nørrebro is a student stronghold with a rich cafe and club scene! Many young people from around the world come to live in this lively, multicultural district. There’s simply no better way to live up to the term hostel.”
AP Property’s Managing Director Peter Olsson explains: “A&O is a very exciting hotel concept that seems really relevant in the Danish market. The hotel gives perfect synergy to AP Pension’s adjacent youth flats. So, we look forward to a very long and fruitful cooperation for both parties.”
The property’s long-term rental of 30 years allows to build 670 beds in 270 rooms in different categories. Due to its spacious 6,144 m², an XXL lobby in the concept called “A&O: next generation” will be built. The lobby is equipped with accentuated colours in blue, orange and grey, and furnished with designer lamps, info projectors and high-quality furniture. Reception desk and 24-hour bar are connected and adapted to the city’s typical urban flair. The new hotel and hostel is situated in the northwest of the city, right by Bispebjerg station.
A&O will invest six million euros in the object’s reconstruction and the establishment.
The accommodation in the Danish capital will focus on leisure travellers, families and groups. Due to Copenhagen’s high price level A&O thus creates a low-budget accommodation for anyone. Prices start at 12 euros for dorms and 39 euros for double rooms creating an unrivalled range.
The typical A&O services such as bicycle rental, guest laundry, guest kitchen, free Wi-Fi are also available at this location.
