WYSE Travel Confederation has just launched the third edition of the Booking Sources Survey. The aim of the survey is to help youth travel accommodation providers identify additional booking sources and increase booking and revenues.

The survey includes questions about booking channels, online travel agents (OTAs), wholesalers and tour operators. The findings of the survey will give the opportunity to accommodation providers to benchmark their business based on accommodation type, size, location and region.

The survey will also look at trends of direct booking, the impact of sharing economy accommodation booking and regional Online Travel Agents. It will also be particularly interesting to understand the impact that terrorism, politics and environment have on the industry.

Findings of the Booking Sources Report 2016

The Booking Sources Report 2016, showed an increase in indirect bookings via online travel agents. The results also showed a division of opinion among YTA providers about the effects of sharing economy platforms, with almost a quarter of respondents seeing negative effects. Those who saw positive effects were likely to be smaller operators using Airbnb as a booking channel.  The report also confirmed a positive outlook for businesses in general, with the majority of the respondents expecting an increase in business in the next 12 months.
