On 24-26 January 2018, hundreds of representatives from hostels and accommodation suppliers from around the world will meet in Amsterdam for the 2018 STAY WYSE Conference.
The first stop is Generator Hostel for the welcoming reception on Wednesday evening, sponsored by Generator and SnapShot.
The trendy Generator Hostel is located in a former university building overlooking Oosterpark. Here, conference attendees have their first chance to meet the more than 80 representatives from leading buyers of youth accommodation in Europe and worldwide.
After a night of mixing and mingling, the conference goes into full swing Thursday morning with registration and badge pickup at the conference venue – the monumental Beurs van Berlage, located in the heart of the Amsterdam.
The welcome reception at Generator may have made for a short night, but that’s nothing that can’t be fixed by a bit of coffee and a keynote address by entrepreneur, leader and philanthropist Bruce Poon Tip.
Bruce founded travel company and social enterprise G Adventures. He’s also a global leader on social entrepreneurship, leadership, immersive travel, and innovation who has presented to the United Nations, Apple, Google, and TEDx.
New this year for the STAY WYSE Conference – delegates have the opportunity to schedule up to 38 business appointments. That’s twelve additional chances from 2017 to meet with new business partners. This expansion came after a huge surge in appointment bookings within just a few days of opening the online scheduling tool. The 20 minute business appointments will get underway after the opening keynote and a short coffee break, sponsored by Freehand Hotels.
Also on Thursday, the Senior Director of STR Research and Development, Patrick Mayock, will join WYSE Travel Confederation Director General David Chapman for a data driven education session exploring trends in hostel performance metrics, including occupancy, average bed rate, and revenue utilisation per square metre. David Chapman will also present the latest hostel findings from the New Horizons Survey of more than 57,000 youth travellers worldwide.
After a full day of business appointments, there’s nothing like a stroll along Amsterdam’s beautiful canals to get energised for an evening out. That’s why at the end of the day, SANDEMANs New Europe Tours will lead conference delegates on a fun and informative trek through the city. The tour conveniently ends at Hans Brinker Hostel, host and sponsor of the evening networking event. Hans Brinker has promised a ‘night you’ll probably never remember.’
For those delegates who do remember to set their alarms, the first business appointments start Friday morning at 9:30. Freehand Hotels will keep the crowd fueled on coffee until SnapShot CEO Stefan Tweraser delivers his closing keynote. Tweraser’s experience and knowledge of the intersection of tech, data analysis and marketing will be of interest to hosteliers and others forging new frontiers in hospitality and lodging for the young, savvy traveller.
The 2018 STAY WYSE Conference is just around the corner, but there is still time to register.
