MEININGER Hotels boosts sales and plans new openings
MEININGER Hotels has shown impressive growth in revenue, room occupancy, and employee numbers over the past year. In the 2023/2024 financial year (1 April – 31 March), sales rose by 18% to EUR 196 million, with room occupancy reaching 77%. The outlook for the next fiscal year is also promising.
From 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, sales are projected to grow to approximately EUR 215 million, with room occupancy rates expected to increase to 80%. The current RevPAR (Revenue per Available Room) of EUR 82.96 is anticipated to rise to EUR 89. MEININGER Hotels has highlighted the importance of addressing the shortage of skilled workers, sustainability, and the automation and digitisation of processes for future security.
The hotel group has developed a tech roadmap to introduce innovative technologies and digital solutions over the next three years, aiming to enhance the guest experience and streamline operations. In early June, MEININGER launched a new website designed to offer an improved customer journey with easy navigation and an optimised online booking engine. The development prioritised mobile-first optimisation and the needs of target groups.
Besides renovating existing hotels and making selective acquisitions, MEININGER is focused on geographical expansion. In the past year, new properties have opened in Cologne and Krakow, with plans to expand to Edinburgh and Barcelona. Additional locations in Greece, Portugal, Spain, France, and Great Britain are also in the pipeline.
The company recently increased its workforce to 1,270 employees and expects this number to rise to 1,330 over the next year. MEININGER Hotels currently operates 36 hotels across Europe, offering around 5,600 rooms and 19,800 beds in 26 cities, including Kraków, Cologne, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Milan, Paris, Rome, and Vienna.
