MEININGER Hotel Copenhagen: New hotel name in one of Europe’s most popular cities for travellers
The hotel, with 235 rooms and 873 beds, was developed and designed in 2015 by the Pandox under the name “Urban House Copenhagen”. As the first of its kind in Copenhagen, it introduced a new hybrid accommodation concept to the city. Over the past decade, similar establishments have emerged, and this segment continues to grow steadily in Copenhagen. Since 2017, the property has been operated by MEININGER Hotels.
“Copenhagen is a key location for us in Europe and a magnet for guests from all over the world,” explains Malin Widmarc-Nilsson, VP Commerce at MEININGER Hotels. “With the new name, we connect the recognizability of our brand with the location. Guests can experience the unique charm of Copenhagen while enjoying our hybrid concept – a combination of hotel comfort and hostel atmosphere.”
Located in the unique and authentic Vesterbro district, just a few steps from the main train station, the hotel is a popular destination for those who want to stay centrally and explore the city. Attractions such as Tivoli, the Meatpacking district Kødbyen, numerous trendy restaurants, museums and galleries, as well as other cultural hotspots, are easily accessible in walking distance or by bike.
“Over the years, Pandox and MEININGER have built a strong partnership that drives strategic alignment and shared ambitions. Together, we aim to enhance the building’s quality and design, providing our guests with exceptional stays and long-term value for all stakeholders. The ongoing soft refurbishment and modernization of public areas in a contemporary Scandinavian style reflects our joint commitment to elevate the guest experience,” says Thomas Hagemann, COO of MEININGER Hotels.
More than just a place to sleep
The building combines several historic structures that have been lovingly restored, blending modern design with historical elements. The rooms are spread across the different sections of the building and include both double rooms as well as multi-bed rooms and dormitories. The spacious communal areas invite guests to linger: in addition to the lobby and lounge, there is a guest kitchen, a large game zone with pool and foosball tables, various arcade games, and a children’s play area. There is also a bar where guests can enjoy pizza, snacks, and a wide selection of drinks.
The hotel offers a diverse program of on-site activities and events that make the location in Europe truly special. The highlight is the in-house stage, where live concerts, bingo music, as well as quizzes and karaoke nights are held regularly. The hotel also hosts tattoo pop-ups and second-hand pop-ups. With this wide-ranging cultural offering, MEININGER Hotel Copenhagen attracts not only tourists but also locals, firmly establishing itself in the city’s cultural scene.
