Buyer FAQs
What is a buyer?
Buyers are organisations that buy or distribute accommodation for youth and student travellers. These organisations can include Online Travel Agents (OTAs), Travel Agencies, Tour Operators, wholesalers and group travel providers.
Can a hostel be a buyer?
If your organisation sells accommodation, as a hostel does, you cannot be considered a buyer.
How do I apply to become a buyer?
If you are a distributor or buyer of accommodation then you can apply to become a buyer for the STAY WYSE Conference by completing the following application form.
What are the buyer selection criteria?
Received applications are reviewed against STAY WYSE buyer selection criteria:
- Scale of current business
- Potential for future business
- Outbound region(s) covered
- Priority destination(s)
- Feedback from references
- Previous STAY WYSE attendance
- WYSE Travel Confederation membership
- Time of application
Why can buyers participate on special terms and hostels and suppliers have to pay the full price?
Buyers are sponsored by WYSE Travel Confederation to attend on special terms as these are the organisations that hostels want to do business with. At the STAY WYSE Conference you will be given the opportunity to meet face-to-face with these buyers. You can then pitch your accommodation (product) to them to see whether the buyer would like to send youth travellers to your hostel, or host your hostel on their booking platform. Buyers represent more potential business for you, hence we sponsor their attendance so you can benefit from this.
