Astor Hostels, a WYSE Travel Confederation member, has recently opened a new hostel in the beautiful and historic city of York. This is the first property outside London for the independent hostel group, which has been accommodating travelers since 1974. York was recently rated the best place to live in the UK.
Astor Hostels said it has transformed a hotel into a backpackers paradise with amazing facilities, but still the same helpful staff and incredible atmosphere as their London properties. The hostel is located just a short walk from the thriving town centre. It features around 100 beds distributed among 19 rooms, all of which are ensuite. Additionally, it has two spacious dining rooms, a large living room and an outdoor terrace and garden. According to Astor Hostels, all the original features of the beautiful Grade II listed building provide a hostel that is just perfect for anyone traveling to York solo or as part of a group.
“No matter what you’re coming to York for, be it for the Horse Races, to explore the wonders of the cities Viking heritage, or even for those curious to find out if it’s true that the town has more pubs than days in a year! Astor York will provide you with that home away from home. Their knowledgeable and amiable staff will always ensure that you never run out of fun things to do and will help you experience the city as the own locals do,” the hostel group said in a statement.
Rates start from £18 for dorms and £60 for privates and, as at their London destinations, breakfast is paid with a £1 donation that goes to charity. As a special promotion for the opening, Astor Hostels are offering the first customers coming to York 25% off their entire stay and 20% off the bar when booking direct through their website and by using the promo code AY25 (T&C’s apply).
