Stayokay takes over operations of Blue Collar Hotel in Eindhoven

Feb 2, 2024

Effective 1 February 2024, the operational reins of Eindhoven’s Blue Collar Hotel will be in the hands of Stayokay, marking the hostel brand’s 21st property in the Netherlands and a return to the province of Noord-Brabant.

Marijke Schreiner, Managing Director at Stayokay, expressed her delight in fulfilling a long-standing desire to establish a hostel in Eindhoven, particularly in the unique Strijp-S area. “Eindhoven has been high on our wish list for a long time. We are very happy that we can now also offer our guests a great place to stay in Strijp-S, a unique part of the city with plenty of character.”

Designed to be inclusive, the new hostel caters to everyone; from international hostel guests to the local residents of Eindhoven. The distinctive atmosphere and character, along with the unique bar/restaurant concept, will be preserved as the hostel undergoes phased adjustments in 2024, including the addition of beds and the visible presence of the Stayokay brand. “Although the hotel will also have hostel rooms, the atmosphere and character of the Blue Collar Hotel will be retained,” continued Marijke. “A beautiful concept has been created by Bart and Sis van den Dijssel and their team. It is distinctive and appealing to many national and international guests. It will continue to breathe this atmosphere under the Stayokay flag.”

Bart and Siska van den Dijssel, founders of the Blue Collar Hotel, added, “After 10 years of working with on the success of the Blue Collar Hotel, we now hand over the hotel to Stayokay with pleasure, and also a bit of pain in our hearts. We are convinced that Stayokay, like no other, can ensure that it remains accessible and a place for everyone.”

The acquisition of the Blue Collar Hotel fits within Stayokay‘s growth strategy to offer affordable and sustainable accommodations in more places in the Netherlands, be it by taking over existing hostel operations or by redeveloping existing real estate.
